At the prominent corner of 50th and Lexington Avenue in New York City, The Benjamin Royal Sonesta Hotel is recognized as a landmark destination. Originally built in 1927, the residential-style hotel was called the Beverly Hotel, inspiring acclaimed artist Georgia O’Keefe’s work “New York Night.” Today, the iconic premier luxury boutique hotel is reimagined as a present-day interpretation of the urban oasis, infusing design elements of classic elegance with modern flair throughout.
Relaunching the Royal Sonesta Hotel brand with this flagship location, the first in New York City, The Benjamin features elegant new public spaces, including a refreshed lobby, and a luxurious renovation of 209 residential-style guestrooms and suites, including the renowned Benjamin Suite and the introduction of the brand-new Beverly Suite. Taking cues from the building’s rich history, the restorative design draws inspiration from our two protagonists, Benjamin and Beverly, revealing their story. Our design blends masculine elements as a reflection of “Ben,” featuring exquisite architecture moments, bold lines, and modern details. While feminine touches capture “Bev” through gilded curves, intricate patterns, and a soft palette. Their friendship comes through in the warmth, wit, and timeless nature that sets the tone for what one can expect during their stay.
