North Forsyth High School needed a modern and comprehensive renovation to support enhanced learning opportunities for its students. Our transformative design revamps a 1960s comprehensive high school into a vibrant, next generation facility and incorporates a new hub for healthcare education. The facility is one of the county’s two state certified testing centers for the certified nursing assistant program.

Reorganizing the building streamlines student circulation and flow between each learning area. The expanded media center at the heart of the school includes a makerspace that fosters creativity and critical thinking. Collaboration and connectivity can be observed through the learning stair that connects the second floor to the outdoor learning spaces and dining areas. Expanding the dining area promotes social interaction and allows each student more personal space, while the new welcome center invites students into the renovated healthcare hub.

North Forsyth High School is 98,000 SF and can accommodate 900 students. Rotating existing classrooms and labs in the old double-loaded corridor enables healthcare program spaces and authentic learning activities. The renovation also adds EMT learning spaces and animal science classrooms to the school. Renovations to the building occurred over two occupied school years and through various phases.
