The University of Houston sought to elevate its basketball facilities to reflect its championship aspirations and attract top-tier recruits. A key component of this transformation was integrating the Air Jordan brand – a privilege granted to only a select few collegiate athletics programs – into the identity of the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility. DLR Group’s design seamlessly accomplishes this vision.
By collaborating with our in-house Experiential Graphic Design (XGD) Studio, we crafted an immersive environment where the legacy of Jordan Brand meets the grit and determination of Houston Basketball. The facility now exudes a bold, dynamic aesthetic that reinforces the university’s winning culture while enhancing the student-athlete experience. From striking branded graphics to thoughtfully curated experiential moments, the space tells a powerful story of excellence, exclusivity, and relentless pursuit of greatness.
The 10,000 SF renovation reimagines the team level of the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility, focusing on both men’s and women’s basketball programs. Upgrades include state-of-the-art locker room suites designed for modern student-athletes, enhanced recovery and wellness areas, and a dedicated nutrition space to support peak performance. Trophy and memorabilia displays were incorporated into coaching suites to inspire recruits and honor the program’s rich history. The seamless integration of the Air Jordan brand into the facility’s design creates a unified, aspirational environment that reinforces Houston’s elite status. The project also prioritizes equity, ensuring equal upgrades for both men’s and women’s teams.
