Linking Athletics and Academics

Client

Georgetown Day School

Project Location

Washington, D.C.

Area

178,000 SF

Facility Type

Athletic Center

Founded in 1945, Georgetown Day School has a rich history of providing quality education in a progressive climate. Our design for Georgetown Day School High School’s major expansion and renovation creates a link between the existing school and the new underground athletic facility. This expansion features a new main entrance within a three-story sky-lit forum that serves as a vibrant student center.

The 178,000-SF addition and renovation includes a new athletic center, academic facilities, and an atrium. The new athletic center features a weight and fitness center, a dance classroom, a competition gym with spectator seating, a running track, and a 175-space underground parking garage that is beneath the synthetic turf play field. DLR Group provided architecture and interior design services.
