Located in the Cleveland neighborhood of Hough, the design of the 130,000 SF Case Western Reserve Dental Clinic combines state-of-the-art dental education with community-focused, low-cost dental care in a facility representing a collaboration that bridges the Cleveland Clinic, CWRU, and the community.
The glazed lobbies and stair towers, continuously lit, act as beacons to the community while the clean, uncluttered interior creates a more tranquil space for patients, some of whom may be anxious about receiving dental care. Public spaces are surrounded by full-height glazing while treatment areas utilize ribbon windows to provide patients with continuous panoramic views without creating the feeling of being on display. The project includes operatories for students and faculty, clinic support, collaborative learning areas with rounds/seminar rooms, public/waiting areas, administrative/staff space, and mechanical/electrical maintenance space.
