Northern Arizona University Selects DLR Group for Planning Services
(FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., August 4, 2022) – Weeks after the opening of the new DLR Group-designed Student-Athlete High Performance Center, we are partnering with Northern Arizona University on another project. The comprehensive, sustainable, smart campus master plan will define future facility and infrastructure needs and outline the roadmap for NAU’s transformation to a connected, smart campus that serves the needs of future generations.
NAU’s main campus comprises 829 acres in Flagstaff, which is located at the base of the San Francisco Peaks. The university also owns 143 undeveloped acres in the region and the 300-acre historic Hat Ranch property outside of Williams. We have been tasked with creating a plan that enhances NAU’s sense of place by defining the direction, physical building needs through repurposing facilities or new construction, and overall solutions to deficiencies found throughout the analysis. Additionally, we will complete a land use analysis to identify potential property acquisition for future development.
“The resulting plan must reinforce the institution’s vision to be a leader through sustainable practices and personalized attention to student success,” Graff continued.
NAU has designated its future as a smart campus. Together with input from faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and other stakeholders, DLR Group and NAU will develop the vision for what a smart campus looks like and necessary steps to achieve this goal. The plan will incorporate essential elements of NAU’s Climate Action Plan and the Sustainable Campus Ecosystem Initiative.
