The session aims to engage in a panel discussion with higher education experts, focusing on the unique security challenges within a higher education environment. The challenges stem from the wide variety of facilities that cater to staff, faculty, students, and visitors. These include classrooms, libraries, lecture halls, auditoriums, labs, flexible learning spaces, student housing, recreational centers, food service areas, and more.

Each of these facilities poses distinct challenges, particularly when integrated within a single campus setting. Our learning objectives will explore the unique characteristics of these environments and provide insights on how to enhance security through proactive design and operational strategies.

Emily will be accompanied by Mike Boese, School Safety Consultant at AG|CM, Alan Gutierrez, Chief of Police at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, and John Strybos, Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer at Del Mar College. The session will be held on the second day of the conference, Thursday, September 26, from 11:10 AM – 12:10 PM.
