St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was recognized by the New York City Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society, commonly referred to as IESNYC, Lumen Awards with a 2024 Lumen Award of Merit. The award recognizes meritorious lighting design for permanent architectural application.  DLR Group provided interior and exterior lighting design services.

The IESNYC is dedicated to promoting the art and science of illumination through networking events, the Lumen Awards, educational seminars, scholarships, and award programs. The Lumen Awards program recognizes lighting design members with exceptional professionalism, ingenuity, and originality in lighting design.

The award was presented at the Lumen Gala on Thursday, June 20, at Pier 60, Chelsea Piers, in New York City.
