The original 1920s Hanby Middle School has stood as an icon of the Gold Hill community's history and heritage. DLR Group's design reinforces the sense of community by simultaneously preserving and complementing the character of the existing building while conveying the essence of modern science, technology and access to learning in contemporary education. The addition's massing, materials and details link the past, present and future in a processional transition between new community use areas and academic zones.
